Mendo Breath Strain Summary

Mendo Madness

Mendo is what the cool kids call Mendocino County. Mendocino County is a home base for boutique cannabis cultivation. Mendocino Country is part of a region in Northern California nicknamed ‘The Emerald Triangle,’ where many of the legendary strains of cannabis were first perfected.

Thus, the name Mendo Breath couldn’t be more appropriate for this strain, considering the forest green hue of the buds, which are shaped like rounded triangles. The original phenotype of this strain was clone-only, preserved for use in breeding projects.

Mendo Breath was developed by Gage Green Genetics, a collective of growers from – you guessed it – Mendocino. Their name is an affectionate tribute to the word ‘gage’, a term famous old-timey jazz artists used to refer to cannabis in the thirties and forties.

Mendo Breath is a cross between OG Kush Breath and Mendo Montage, a very rare strain with a low yield that is itself descended from merging Mendo Purps and Crystal Locomotive, a cross between Trainwreck and White Widow.

White Widow was one of the original boutique strains. White Widow rose to prominence in the nineties before anyone could buy marijuana legally.

Luckily, we are living in a brave new world, and the sky’s not the limit; it’s just the beginning!

Cookies and Ice Cream Breath – Aromas and Flavors of Mendo Breath Strain

The aroma of Mendo Breath can be described as smelling grandma’s house on a trip home for the holidays. Cinnamon and sugary. The fragrance is creamy, and the flavors are scrumptious. It is reminiscent of a trip to the local ice cream parlor to taste all those little scoopfuls of different samples.

This may be on account of its relation to cookie strain genetics. OG Kush Breath is rumored to be one of the granddaddies of the cookie line, a family that includes the yummy Girl Scout Cookies varieties among its members.

It could be because the terpene profile is dominated by Limonene and includes myrcene, caryophyllene, and linalool. Limonene is a citrusy and tart terpene usually paired with myrcene and caryophyllene. Linalool is an earthy terpene often found in Kush-heavy strains.

All of those factors contribute to Mendo Breath’s zesty, rich taste. It’s sweet and earthy, with a dominant vanilla cream and caramel flavor, showcasing diverse notes of orange and cherry candy, fresh berries, grape, and dried fruit like mango and golden raisins. You might also notice the faint sense of pine, pepper, and lemon.
