Heating Your Flower

Some good things can’t be rushed, and so it is with artisan hemp flower. The amount of care that you put into this first step of preparing your flower, you’ll taste and enjoy later with every sensuous bite.

To get the benefits of your flower for your CBD chocolate, first you’ll need to decarboxylate. This is a process where we turn all of the inactive compounds in your flower into active compounds. When we apply heat through smoking or vaping, we’re essentially unlocking the therapeutic effects of your flower. Decarboxylation is important here because we are going to be adding the essential components of our flower to the fats (cream or oil) later on for your chocolates. While it’s fun to geek out on this part of the process, keep it simple: you’ll need to apply heat, low and slow.

We want you to heighten all of our flower’s terpene profiles. After all, what is CBD chocolate without all of the flavor and feeling? By heating up our flower at a low heat for a long time, you’ll unleash all of your favorite flavor and aroma. Terpenes are volatile at high temperatures and will evaporate, leaving a bitter and burnt taste, not to mention a less potent experience. Having patience while you heat up our flower will bring the best tastes to the front of your pallet. Our terpenes and your taste buds will thank you.

Slow Heat in Oven to Decarb

Preheat your oven at 230 degrees. While that’s heating up, place the 2g of your Cannaflower hemp into a glass dish, and cover with a lid.

Place your dish in the oven and heat for two hours. You’re looking for the flower to turn from green to medium brown. Keep an eye on them, and take out 10 to 15 minutes sooner if you’re cooking at altitude or the color transforms.

Stove Top for Terpenes

Continuing with the patience of connoisseur who wants the best results, gather at the stove top for this next step with your sauce pan, your heavy cream or coconut oil, and your flower.

Place your 2 cups of heavy cream or coconut oil in your saucepan and heat up. Check with your candy thermometer until the liquid reads 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it reaches this temperature, place your 2g of flower in the pan and set to a slow and low simmer for one and a half hours. Keep an eye on this brew and stir occasionally.

Next allow your liquid to cool slightly and then strain everything through your cheesecloth into a bowl. Squeeze as much through the cloth as possible and compost the leftover plant material.

Now, the Chocolate and Hemp Flower!

Get out your chocolate, your saucepan, your CBD liquid, and your mold.

Finely chop up your 2 pounds of chocolate and place into your heat-friendly glass dish. Add in your heavy cream or coconut oil Cannaflower hemp liquid. Set the dish over a pot of simmering water (the bottom of the bowl should not touch the water). Heat the chocolate, stirring occasionally, until completely melted. (For those of you who really want to kick up your CBD chocolate game, check out how to temper your chocolate here.)

With the melted chocolate, carefully spoon your chocolate from the bowl and gently pour it into the cavities of your mold. Gently tap the mold tray onto a tabletop after filling all the shapes.

Take a flat spatula and run it across the top of the mold, removing any excess chocolate from the top. This will make your finished chocolates neater.

Pop Out, Decorate, Enjoy Your Own Cannaflower Artisan Hemp Chocolates!

Allow the chocolates to completely harden in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Once ready, carefully turn your mold upside down over your counter. Pop out each chocolate or tap them gentle until they come out. Trim off any of the edges if you’d like to make the shape smooth.

Have some fun tearing off little pieces of edible gold leaf, sprinkling on pink salt, and adorning your Cannaflower hemp chocolates in the most decadent way. Use tweezers or a brush if you want to make them very precise.

If they are straight from the refrigerator, allow them to come to room temperature before enjoying. This will allow all of the full flavor to bloom over your tastebuds.

Bring these beauties with you for all of your parties, and everyone will be asking you for the recipe. Or, just sit back and bask in your DIY luxury. Enjoy the enticing terpene flavors and potency from Cannaflower. Let us know how these work for you!
